This is # 8 in my 8-part series on Summer Literacy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now&#8217;s time to get active with what&#8217;s been read over the past few weeks.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1328\" src=\"http:\/\/www.paddyeger.com\/educatingamerica\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/puppettheatre-300x246.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"246\" \/>Select a story that can be acted out OR go to the library and check out poetry books, plays, DVD&#8217;s, etc to use.<\/li>\n<li>Make sock puppets OR simple costumes to wear as actors. (cardboard sets are fun to add if you have time)<\/li>\n<li>Plan a neighborhood play event (maybe serve lemonade and cookies). Ask other families to share their short plays OR watch video plays<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Consider making a video your plays to send to relatives and friends.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bottom line: Plan an end of the summer event to celebrate reading and literacy.
