Ask students to write the definition(s) and add their frame of reference, their schema, to make the word relate to their lives in a personal manner. Example:<\/p>\n
Referee – noun – a sports official who makes certain rules are enforced.<\/p>\n
Referee – verb – to supervise a sporting event<\/p>\n
Referee- synonym- judge, arbitrator, umpire, official<\/p>\n
Referee – my schema – My brother referees my soccer game.<\/p>\n
