The consistency of adults enables\u00a0students to be more incharge of\u00a0their learning.\u00a0\u00a0When they understand the day-to-day functionings of their classroom, they have more time to focus on learning.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the short list for all groups, class-size to 1:1. It&#8217;s an easy routine with built-in signals\u00a0. Use it consistently to establish a pattern students will internalize.<\/p>\n<p>1. Maintain a consistent meeting place.<\/p>\n<p>2. Share a warm welcome\/greeting.<\/p>\n<p>3. Introduce the task\/activity with a simple one-sentence explanation.<\/p>\n<p>4. Explain the details of the task.<\/p>\n<p>5. Provide a five-minute check up as work starts.<\/p>\n<p>6. Answer student questions as they work.<\/p>\n<p>7. Compliment successes and share student ideas with the group.<\/p>\n<p>8. Signal the end of the work time by announcing a five-minute wrap up.<\/p>\n<p>9. Direct student clean up.<\/p>\n<p>10. Send students on to the next task\/activity.<\/p>\n<p>11.
