It&#8217;s a time to look at what teens read as well as encourage the teens in your life to read, read, read. It part of a national literacy initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association. Each year it is held during the middle of October, which is Literacy Month.<\/p>\n<p>The project began in 1986 through a grant from the IRA (International Reading Association). It&#8217;s focus rests on teens, their parents, librarians, educators, booksellers and other concerned adults who want to help build teen literacy.<\/p>\n<p>The theme this year is Read For The Fun Of It. The sub-theme is Turn Dreams into Reality @ your library. The goal is to encourage teens to read a variety of books, magazines, graphic novels and other materials for the fun of it.<\/p>\n<p>Reading is still a popular pastime for teens.
