I&#8217;ve written the book, made a desktop flipbook and written a workbook to that end. The materials are sound, easy to implement and worthwhile. My challenge is finding a wider audience to share the ideas and then help educators, classroom assistants, parents and community members make that step into schools to work with teachers and students.<\/p>\n<p>In this busy world, it&#8217;s difficult to slow people down. But&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>IF people did,<\/strong> they&#8217;d notice the smiles on students faces when an adult is sitting with them, alone, listening to them read, talking about the author&#8217;s intent and how it relates to their personal lives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IF people did,<\/strong> they&#8217;d enjoy watching light bulbs of understanding flash when their ten-minutes with a student led to understanding a math concept because they had time to talk it through one-to-one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IF people did,<\/strong> they&#8217;d witness the collective power of a small group sharing their thinking, helping each other work through problems and building bridges, connectedness with each other.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you are able to volunteer, to spread the word on how valuable volunteers are to teachers and students.
