I Think Not!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Authors may feel the relationship between themselves and their editors are contentious times. I&#8217;ve had only great experiences so far.<\/p>\n<p>For me, the time I spend with my editors is invigorating. We share our concerns about my work: word choices, punctuation errors, pacing on the page as well as whether a sentence or paragraph progresses the story. We discuss my &#8216;why&#8217; verses their &#8216;concern&#8217;. Often I concede that what I <em>meant<\/em> and what I <em>wrote<\/em> are not in harmony. Then we work through the section, make adjustments to help the reader understand my meaning, and move on.<\/p>\n<p>In the process we often become professional acquaintances who know and respect each other. Often, we become friends who share life experiences, send birthday cards, and stay in touch. It&#8217;s a win-win during a working time that could be stressful.<\/p>\n<p>I see my editors are mentors; people who care about me, my writing and my success. I learn from their\u00a0 wisdom, make needed changes and still stand up for images or language I want\/need kept intact. Also, it&#8217;s understood that any and all mistakes that linger <em>after<\/em> they assist me, are my own.
