My fellow writers gift me with fresh perspectives, noting voids, overworked pages and redundancies as well as near-magical moments. They encourage me to let my characters “get dirty”; to experience problems and work their way out without my interference, all with the goal of helping improve my manuscript. They find the funny\/quirky\/odd-ball\/head-shaking errors and make the kind of suggestions that match the V-8, head-banging commercials. I get dizzy from absorbing it all, but\u00a0 feel grateful that they’ll take the time to help me be a better writer.<\/p>\n
Following that, it’s on to the editor and facing the firing squad of errors and questions needed to be remedied.
