Summer Food

Grab your blender or a few bowls and start building your children’s food experiences. You mighty be able to introduce new foods to their ‘like’ list.

Blender Drinks

Summer is a great time to blend up nutritious drinks.

1 cup fruit + ½ cup juice + ¼ cup yogurt + 3 ice cubes = I drink

Experiment with single servings while you find the best combinations. Be aware of seedy fruits; many kids don’t like crunchy drinks.

Summer Snacks

Fruit skewers:

Cut fruit to bite-size pieces. Place on skewers or Popsicle sticks. Chill and enjoy.

Protein skewers:

Cut meat and cheese to bite-size. Add veggies: cherry tomatoes to skewers for added taste and color.Put on skewer or Popsicle sticks.

Kids Recipes

Encourage food prep as well as reading and measuring by checking out a kids cookbook. Look for non-sugary items and recipes that require no cooking so young eating remains healthy and young fingers stay safe.

Remember, cleaning up cooking projects is a part of the entire learning process. Help them rather then letting them walk away.

In addition, consider a family outing to a farmer’s market or to farms to pick fruit and veggies. It’s saves money and provides great memories.
