Spreading the Word

By | November 1, 2015

I have a passion about the value of volunteering in schools. I’ve written the book, made a desktop flipbook and written a workbook to that end. The materials are sound, easy to implement and worthwhile. My challenge is finding a wider audience to share the ideas and then help educators, classroom assistants, parents and community members make that step into schools to work with teachers and students.

In this busy world, it’s difficult to slow people down. But…

IF people did, they’d notice the smiles on students faces when an adult is sitting with them, alone, listening to them read, talking about the author’s intent and how it relates to their personal lives.

IF people did, they’d enjoy watching light bulbs of understanding flash when their ten-minutes with a student led to understanding a math concept because they had time to talk it through one-to-one.

IF people did, they’d witness the collective power of a small group sharing their thinking, helping each other work through problems and building bridges, connectedness with each other.

I hope you are able to volunteer, to spread the word on how valuable volunteers are to teachers and students. Please know I’m here to help you or your class or your friends class so please contact me and let me assist you.
