Student Ages and Stages

kidstogetherStudent skills develop over several years. Here is a common set of skills for each K-12 year. Kids vary in their personal abilities, but these are standard skills and standard grades where students gain specific thinking skills.

Grades K-3 are considered years when students use more static forms of organizing information.

Grades 3-6 students become more active/engaged in thinking and organizing.

Grades 6-9 students begin to explain their thinking.

Grades 9-12 students use and apply their knowledge independently.
