How to Review a Book in 10 Minutes
Read a good book lately? A new one? One you shared with a friend? Good! I know your friends
appreciate hearing about books, but so do the authors of the books you read.
You can write a review faster than you can finish reading the rest of this blog!!
What makes a good review?
A good review shares your impressions; what you liked about the story and the characters.
How long will it take to write?
Budget 5-7 minutes. (You may use the same review on several social media locations.)
How much do I need to write?
K.I.S.S – Keep It Simple, Sweetie! Share 2-3 details in 2-3 sentences. It’s like a grown up version of PBS Reading Rainbow!
TWO EXAMPLES:
I just finished title of book) by (author name). It’s a great mystery that takes me to New York City. The author shared interesting sites as he solved the disappearance of six Van Gogh paintings.
If you like historical fiction, you’ll love (title) by (author’s name). The author wrote interesting details from the 1850s and plopped me into the main character’s problem. It’s a fast read. I cheered for (character) from the first page to the last.
Where should I post it?
(1)Mention the book and author on your social media. Better yet, copy your review onto the sites you visit most often.
Facebook ** Twitter ** Goodreads ** Pinterest ** etc.
(2) Post your review on Amazon and Barnes& Noble. It’s easy!
(a) Type in the book title or the author’s name (the book should pop up)
(b) Scroll down the page to Reader Comments
(c) Copy your review.
(d) (Bonus Action) Hit like on reviews you agree with.
